World of Gnocchi

Sausage Gnocchi

Sausage brings much of its flavor with it. The spice, smoke, and salt in the link can matter as much as the sauce, especially alongside mild gnocchi.

A few browned Italian sausages, one cut into thick slices, on a simple ceramic dish next to a small skillet of crumbled sausage in tomato sauce.

Follow the seasoning, not just the meat

Italian sausage suits tomatoes, cream, and bitter greens. Fresh Mexican chorizo has a more chile-forward flavor beside masa gnocchi and salsa verde. Smoked kielbasa brings a different warmth to cabbage, while bratwurst sits comfortably with beer cheese and mustard.

A browned edge or a soft bowl

Sausage pieces and roasted vegetables make gnocchi feel like a full sheet-pan dinner. In a creamy kale soup, the same broad combination is softer and more spoonable. Sweet potato gnocchi add sweetness against savory sausage; cauliflower dough gives a milder vegetable flavor.
